What Is the UN?

UN stands for "United Nations," which consists of 193 countries throughout the world who come together to try and improve Earth. Founded in 1945, the United Nations is committed to maintaining international peace and security; developing friendly relations among nations; promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights.

What Is Model UN?

Model UN stands for "Model United Nations," an organization which gathers and replicates the United Nations by researching issues, writing resolutions, debating, and working with others to solve world problems.

While it probably sounds confusing, boring, or both, Lake MUN is more than its definition. You get to know people you otherwise wouldn't, and become more aware of local, national, and world issues. Don't feel comfortable speaking in front of people? You don't have to! Don't feel worried if you have no idea what's going on, or what the club is like; we have people to help!
